Conservatory Style Series: The Edwardian Conservatory

All of our conservatories are made to order. So to help you choose the one to suit your home, we’ve put together this conservatory style series that looks at the features of different types of conservatory designs.

The Edwardian

Edwardian conservatory from AstraFrameAn Edwardian Conservatory, also called a Georgian Conservatory, is a classic design perfect for adding extra space to any type of property. It has a rectangular or square shape, so makes the most of the space you have available and can create a space for a new dining room, sitting room, games room or play room.

The Edwardian Conservatory has the classic, simple and symmetrical design features of the period. Usually, it has a high sloping roof which creates a big, light-filled space, but the angle can be altered to suit your home. Even with its period design, the Edwardian Conservatory looks good on both traditional and modern properties

Choosing the right glass is important. Having a conservatory that can be used all year round means keeping it warm in winter and cool in the summer months. AstraFrame has a range of glass options to choose from that really make a difference. For south facing conservatories, keep the heat out with heat reflective glass or for difficult to reach and north facing conservatories, there’s self-cleaning glass.

TOP TIP To make it look like part of the original structure, choose the brick base of your conservatory to match the house’s current brickwork.

Conservatories don’t have to be white. You can try traditional Edwardian colours like off-whites and Chartwell Greens, but our PVCu frames can be sprayed any colour to match in with other window and door frames in your property.

All of AstraFrame’s conservatories are made to order at our factory showroom in Norwich. We provide a fast turnaround and you can choose to DIY, use a local tradesperson or we have a list of fitters that can do the installation for you.
